‘CIRCLE’ for Efficient Plastic Recycling

Carmel Olefins of the Bazan Group is an official member of ‘CIRCLE,’ a new consortium comprising large international plastic companies and leading academia.

Members will cooperate to develop scientific-chemical technologies to solve two challenges facing the plastic recycling field: 1. Methods to treat industrial waste comprised of multi-layer plastic films – which at present are very difficult to recycle due to their heterogeneous composition; and 2. Methods to increase the amount of recycled material in plastic products while maintaining/improving the quality of the final product.

The emerging research from the project, which will run from 2019-2022, is for plastic recycling processes to yield higher quality products and become more efficient. The consortium was given the green light by the Israel Innovation Authority and is part of the MAGNET program of the Authority’s Technology Infrastructure Division.
